Wanted to offer suggestions for shopping during all the holidays as well as throughout the year. Ask any business owner, supporting them directly means the world. Virtually all of these are our personal favorites and didn't pay or anything sly to get listed. Let me know any questions about them as well. Happy to editorialize further.
The list debuts as very Dutchess County-oriented, but will expand it across upstate New York, the Hudson Valley, Catskills and Berkshires as we go. This directory put together by Muriel Norman, helps you shop local in The Hudson Valley. The Albany Times-Union also has a roundup of local gift ideas out.
RED HOOK, NY
Sawkill Farm: Meat, Eggs, Jams, and .... yarn! Kallie was on episode 41 if you want to get to know her. Sawkill Farm store (pictured above) is on Route 9, just north of Red Hook village. It's red. You can't miss it.
Northwind Farms: One of our other favorite farms for meat is on West Kerley Corners Road and make an appointment or pop by during their open hours.
Equis Art Gallery: Love horses? So does Juliet. Her store in Red Hook Village is awesome and you can shop online and she ships virtually anywhere!
Petals & Moss: Fresh and dried arrangements, this flower shop has a ton to offer and right at the main corner in Red Hook.
TIVOLI, NY
Tivoli Mercantile: Our buddy Jill runs a perfectly curated and useful boutique in the village of Tivoli right on Broadway. Gifts. Toys. Housewares. Cute outfits. Visit online or in-store.
Winn's: Clothing, accessory, jewelry — Natalie, Kazio & Kelly describe "pieces that combine the aesthetic and tactile pleasures that make you stop for a moment and appreciate the private world you've created for yourself."
RHINEBECK, NY
Pause Dog Boutique: Nora's favorite shop is Pause Dog Boutique, run by Sammy, who has the best stuff and her favorite treats that include beef and chicken woofers.
GERMANTOWN, NY
Alder & Co: Half-way between Red Hook and the city of Hudson off Route 9G is the hamlet of Germantown. Otto's Market is a great little market, Gaskins is the best restaurant in the area and this shop offers beautiful jewelry and other gifts.
KINGSTON, NY
Hamilton & Adams: Home of the famous "Upstate & Chill" collection, we love this store and what they offer. Buy online or stop in. Use code CIDIOT for 15% off. Coming in person? They're easy to find in Uptown too.
CATSKILL, NY
Citiot: That's right, just across the river from Hudson on Main Street in Catskill is a store for cidiots, just spelled differently. Check out the interview with owner Pim Zeegers, in episode 52 and stop in for their delicious coffee and fun gifts. Tell 'em the other Cidiot sent ya.
TANNERSVILLE, NY
Camp Catskill: Gear and apparel for the outdoors-y types. Featured in Episode 85. Use code CIDIOT10 while you can.
SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY
The Farmhouse Project: From kitchenwear to cloches (you gotta check out what a cloche is), shop Shawn and Kris’s online store. They moved up years ago to a farmhouse on the other side of the river and we met them at Hamilton & Adams pop-up event. They host a beautiful summer outdoor dinner as well. Follow on Insta.
